“Parental Control” Is Scripted

Duh! Did anyone think it wasn’t?? According to this article, the contestants and their parents wear earpieces through which producers feed them every single line. Also, the show isn’t even taped in the contestant’s actual house.

“Every response … they’re feeding you the lines,” Randy Rowlett said. “You have a little earpiece in your ear the whole time.”

In reality, the guys chosen for Ashley are tapped by producers, and other potential guys are instructed to be as callous and unappealing as possible. Also, though the home is intended to be Ashley’s Southern California home, it is actually a rented property in Santa Clarita.

Though the show is largely scripted, producers were very careful to preserve an authentic reaction when, at the end of the show, Ashley makes her decision.

“We were all kept totally separated when we were doing scenes,” King said. “[Producers would] say, ‘Come up stairs,’ and they’d send someone with you.”

The big finish is the only point Ashley gets a choice — between one of the three scripted conclusions.

“That was the only thing that was actually my choice.” Ashley Rowlett said.

I always had my suspicions about this show. I guess now they’re confirmed.

I’ve watched some episodes of MTV’s “Parental Control” and honestly is this what we’re lettin the younger generation come to?? Talking back to someones parents like trash and like they’re supposed to be their age. I also don’t agree with parents talking trash to kids because why it puts them back on a childs level. If we keep showing it’s cool or it’s the thing to do now for todays youth to talk “shit” to their elders or significant others parents then there’s no hope whatsoever, because they will never respect anything or anybody if we dont demand and require that from the get go. But remember to get respect is to give respect. And if anyone doesnt like what I had to say on the subject, then your probably one of those disrespectful new generation x y z hell i dont know and neither do you and never will

    Nikki et al. -

I totally agree with all your points especially the comment about the parents belittling themselves by lowering themselves to the level of the boyfriend/girlfriend participant.

The mom may actually be “slapped” or cursed by the present boyfriend/girlfriend but then for the mom to hit or slap him back is totally outrageous behavior! I was shocked when I saw it. So shocked that there is no way that is real. It would never happen. What son or daughter would ever bring a friend home who would regularly call their mom or dad nasty names?
In one show, the boyfriend was actually stealing the girl’s mom’s panties and wearing them during the day. That was just THE last straw for that show. (I haven’t mentioned the 4 - 6 minutes of commercials I timed that routinely interrupt this brainiac wonder of a show.)
I am only embarrassed to admit that I watched a few episodes but it’s worse now that I have actually taken the time to post and complain about it.

My mom thinks the shit is 100% real, even after I kept trying to explain to her how scripted it is.. for someone who thinks professional wrestling is an all-out fakefest, i’m really surprised at how she takes this show so seriously.

  4. william white Says:

    this is so lame

  5. Karen Says:

no doubt. i’m watching a show right now, and the phrases these people are coming up with sound like something a lame producer from MTV came up with.
not to mention you can feel how forced the ‘datees’ are trying to have fun.
not to mention, what parent WATCHES MTV, knows about this show and thinks, “yea, let’s parade around how idiotic my child is by dating a retard”
seriously, take this show off the air or get REAL people!

  6. Jessica N Says:

Yeah, totally agree with Nikki and the rest. I’m watching this show as we speak. I can’t believe this show is not off air…

I’m a 25 year old chick from the Bay Area (so you know I know what I’m talking about=P) and really, I don’t know any one person or family like that. Right now, there was a black family trying to get rid of the Snoop Dogg wannabe boyfriend. She chose him over the clean cut guy with money and the handsome dude with the nice nice body.

What I don’t understand is why they can’t use real people. I mean, what is so hard about that?

  7. Shia Says:

I saw the episode today with this chick called “Shacole”. Her “boyfriend” was more in love with his skateboard or some shit like that. If no one hasn’t noticed, she was on “True Life: I Don’t Like My Small Breasts” (and I must say her mother SUCKS big time.. I won’t spoil it just watch it), and her mother was a guest on an episode of the Tyra Show about being pretty/popularity or something to that effect. It’s obvious her mom is trying to exploit the poor girl and it really hurts my heart (LMAO!). Yea so MTV does reuse old “reality stars” lol. I’ve even seen a cast member from the real world las vegas on a dating show some years ago… I was like WTF?!

  8. Shia Says:

…and I just found out that Shacole’s mom was actually on the tyra show twice.. once for the “pretty” thing I stated earlier and again for her smoking habits.. Both Shacole and her mom were also on a court tv show…and get this, her mother was suing her…. reality tv is crazy.. and i’m mad I know all of this… LMFAO.

  9. ryuichi ^^ Says:

i knew that this show was scripted its wayyy too fake!!! i mean seriously the things that they say on the show how the current bf/gf is always arguing with the parents and how the daughter/son is always so perfect and innocent while the bf/gf is annoying obnoixous and rude! i mean really? why cant they do this show right! without the bull crap

  10. Jordan Says:

No shit. It’s obviously scripted. I’m surprised it’s still on the air tbh. Btw, who watches this shit anymore? I feel bad for the generation under me, shit like this ruins our country.

  11. Khris Says:

  17. AdELiNa Says:

This show is pretty funny though.

I knew it was fake right away………

  18. Tyesha Says:

wow really that is about as fake as avatar. and that’s actually really true about the parents being hated by the stupid bf\gf. I mean really. what’s the deal?? why can’t the bf\gf actually like the parents. and what’s up with all the cussin. if u ask me its not nessisary. they already knew the other person was gona get the boy\girl. they can just get over it.
