Hairspray to get Punk’d?

Now that the “Hairspray” craze is finally dying down, we have some MTV-related news to report on. While on the set, director Adam Shankman frequently played practical jokes on the cast. He tried to convince them that they were on the MTV show “Punk’d,” and even tricked the movie’s star into thinking she didn’t get the part after all:
[Nikki Blonsky, "Hairspray star"] says, “I would come to the set and go, ‘There is no way I’m really here, you guys! Did I really get the part? Am I really here?’
“Then one day, [the director] looked at me and said, ‘I just want to let you know, we’re punking you. It’s probably the most expensive Punk’d in the history of Punk’d.’ I was like, ‘Wait. Are you serious?’ “
