I won’t claim to know a whole lot of the video game “Warcraft,” but I do have expertise when it comes to MTV. How do these two worlds collide, you ask? Well it seems that the MTV documentary series “True Life” will be shooting an episode that focuses on “Warcraft” gamers. Here’s the blurb:
MTV True Life is doing a documentary for the series True Life about you in the virtual world. We want to see you and your avatars. Does your virtual avatar make you feel confident behind your computer screen? Is there something interesting or unique about your life online? Are you able to lead hundreds of people in World of Warcraft but find yourself shy in real life? Did you meet your significant other online? Is your online avatar completely different from who you are in real life? If so, we would love to hear your story.
Ah, it’s been far too long since I’ve seen “True Life.” I think it’s one of MTV’s best shows, so I’m excited that a new season is on the horizon. To find out how to apply for the “Warcraft” episode, click “read the rest of this entry.”

Can you believe it, “The Real World: Sydney” hasn’t even aired yet and we’re already talking about the next season! There’s still no word as to where the 20th season of “The Real World” will film (rumors point to LA), but we do have our first castmember. Say hello to “PretyBoy”:

[source]
“PretyBoy,” whose real name is Greg Halstead, was the lucky winner of MTV’s “Real World Casting” web contest. For those of you in the dark, MTV set up a networking site where viewers could campain for votes to land a spot in the next “Real World” house. As weeks went by contestants were weeded down to just one person. Here’s what the new winner had to say about being cast:
I really wouldnt find it too beneficial for my family to see how much I do use profanity, or how many “females” I “entertain.” They really are unaware of my life regarding these two aspects. SO, I might have to tone down my language
[source]
Um, ok? Something juicier would have been nicer. For the link to Greg’s personal “Real World Casting” page, as well as to read more of what he had to say, click “read the rest of this entry.”

God, why must we follow every move “The Hills” kids make? I suppose that’s just my lot in life. Let’s get to it. Apparently Brody Jenner was playing football and the beach when LC decided to stop by and join in. One thing led to another and Brody Jenner ended up with a broken finger.
According to E!, Brody Jenner went to the ER and returned with a set of X-rays and a full cast on his left arm. He told the crew, “I’m gonna get surgery, but I’m gonna live.” Of course, Lauren laughed at the ridiculous cast and Brody got his feelings hurt, sparking an argument you’re sure to watch on MTV. E! reports that it all ended in a long-winded heart-to-heart, the kind of stuff shows like The Hills were made for.
Good thing that E! has us covered. Remember that “The Hills” premieres August 13th, this little subplot is sure to be included.

Remember how Sarah Silverman mocked Paris Hilton at the MTV Movie Awards? If not, Silverman poked fun at Paris’s impending jail stint. Here’s what she said:
She is totally going to get special treatment. As a matter of fact, I heard that to make her feel more comfortable in prison, the guards are going to paint the bars to look like penises.
Well, it turns out the Sarah regrets making the joke. Apparently Sarah did not realize that cameras would be present to record every angle of Paris’s reaction. This is what Sarah is now saying:
I thought, ’she’s got to know there’s going to be a joke about her,’ so I went for it. But then I looked down and saw a man in her face with a camera. I was there to be funny and I was, but that doesn’t mean I can’t feel bad about it.
[source]
Boooo! I’d much prefer that Sarah stick to her guns, even though she obviously hurt Paris. It was a joke and everyone realizes that. To see video of the now infamous attack, click “read the rest of this entry.”

Damn, her prison stint must have really given her a new energy, because Paris Hilton seems to be everywhere. Now, she’s taking over MTV. Though not much is currently known about the new series, there are news reports that Paris Hilton will be getting her own animated show. Check this out:
She won’t be your typical superhero. Instead of fighting crime she’ll be seen shopping in Beverly Hills, partying at Losers Lounge (a.k.a Hyde), fighting her evil nemesis (TMZ) by getting loaded and running them over with her overpriced car. But she’ll be good in the sex scenes. Must see TV indeed.
Does this sound like a hoax to anyone else? Recently, animated shows on MTV have been sidelined for reality programming. A cartoon Paris Hilton would sure be a first for the network. I’ll keep you updated.

Yo quiero Taco Bell (this post is going to make me so hungry). Anyway, Taco Bell is sponsoring a contest where viewers can create digital commercials and try to win a 30-second spot during the VMAs. Contestants must create a digitally animated character of themselves, an “avatar,” and produce a creative, persuasive, and tantalizing Taco Bell commercial. Here’s the official word:
“Our 18- to 24-year-old customers are all about creating their own videos and content online, and this consumer-generated ‘avatarsment’ gives us an opportunity to think outside the bun while getting them inside our ads,” said Bob Fulmer, interim chief marketing officer of Taco Bell Corp. “And if starring in a television commercial weren’t enough, who wouldn’t want to debut their 3D animated talking avatar in front of millions of viewers during MTV’s highest-rated music awards show, the VMAs?”
ON THE NET
To audition or to see rules, log on to www.tacobell.com by Sunday.
Using Gizmoz.com’s photorealistic avatars, consumers can audition for the Taco Bell TV Me! search by uploading a digital photograph. In less than a minute, their 3D lifelike head and personalized body is automatically created.
I’m sure the talented WatchingMTV.com readers would do great at this contest–click here to read the full article and get all the entry guidelines. I’m off to get a burrito supreme.

Bryce Fallon (pictured above with cameraman), a student at Silver Lake High School in Massachusetts, was recently selected as a candidate for an episode of “Made.” As you all surely known, “Made” takes teenagers with dreams and works with them to make the dream a reality. Bryce Fallon’s dream was to become a ballroom dancer, so MTV sent out a partial film crew to test the waters. The main purpose of this audition of sorts was to collect video so that producers could decide whether or not to press ahead with Bryce’s episode.
It all started Wednesday night, according to Fallon. “The guy who was going to film me, Ritesh Gupta, came over. He explained what was going to go on and the shots he would need for the night,” Fallon said. “He shot me and my mom eating dinner and just doing our normal routine. We did have some shots he had to get in, such as me talking to my mom about my goal, me dancing the way I regularly do, me attempting to ballroom dance with my mom. He did some interview questions with my mom as well as me, which wrapped up the evening. All three of us we’re tired, but satisfied.”
Read more behind-the-scenes info about “Made,” as well as more of Bryce’s experience being filmed, after the jump.

That’s what author Derrik J. Lang, of the Associated Press, recommends. In a tired and redundant article, Lang tries to pinpoint why MTV has, apparently, been failing to attract viewers. He claims that audiences are switching channels at commercial breaks and are unsatisfied with current programming. How does he recommend that the network fix this problem? Cancel “The Real World.” He in fact offers 5 tips that would supposedly save the dying network. Read each poorly conceived tip for yourself, after the jump.

It feels like Christmas! Here’s the awesome new trailer for next season:
Alright, let’s discuss. First off, there was someone swimming in the fish tank during the first 5 seconds of the trailer. Ew. Next, Dunbar feels threatened by KellyAnne’s advances because he has a girlfriend back home. Why do people always enter “The Real World” with significant others? It’s a recipe for disaster!
Anyway, isn’t Cohutta much more… “southern” than you thought he’d be? Such a thick accent, such a large cowboy hat. This one will be fun to see.
Now here’s where the big drama begins. KellyAnne seems to provoke Parisa, who in turn provokes KellyAnne, who in turn devises a plan to make Parisa leave? Confusing! But then KellyAnne, completely wasted off her ass, grumbles, “THEY. DON’T. LIKE. YOU.”
I can’t wait!! To read what MTV has to say about this upcoming season, click “read the rest of this entry.”

Just kidding, I even own several MTV books myself (”Real World” books, obvs). Anyway, plans were announced to publish an MTV travel guide, formally titled MTV Roadtrips U.S.A..

The book discusses each region of the country, offering local recommendations as well as general tips for potential travelers. For example, MTV recommends that you eat at Rafa’s Burritos in El Paso, Texas because the portions there are “literally as big as your arm,” and that you also call 800-FREE-411 instead of wasting your money with other expensive options.
[source]
Now, this story takes a weird turn (meaning it has a strange connection to “The Real World”). To find out what it is, click “read the rest of this entry.” See you after the jump.

Bummed out that “Pimp My Ride” is dead? Don’t be! A very, very similar show is just about to premiere. Yes, my friends, “Trick It Out” is a brand new automobile-themed show from MTV. Basically, two teams will compete to see who’s the champion at restoring (souping up!) crappy cars. Here’s a snippet of the official MTV blurb:
Each crew of four Tuners gets a similar car to start with, 14 days, and $15,000 to do their very best cosmetic work. In the end, the teams are judged by a panel of experts - including R.J. Devera, the top Tuner in the nation - the winning crews gets to go home with its car, while the loser gets nothing but the satisfaction of giving it their very best effort.
Doesn’t this sort of sound like “Trading Spaces” on wheels? I’ll be curious to see the first episode, but even if it is really cool, there’s no way its host can ever replace Xzibit.
To read the FULL blurb from MTV, as well as to see the official “Trick It Out” website that’s not yet ready for the public, click “read the rest of this entry.”

MTV has announced that “Pimp My Ride,” that super over-the-top-lets-make-my-steering-wheel-pink show, has finally been cancelled. But don’t despair! You still have 8 more episodes to watch and love. This final season begins at 10:30 pm this Sunday, and will presumably run through September 16 (so get your fill while you still can).

Meet Cohutta Lee, the Southern gentleman joining “The Real World: Sydney” cast:

Being raised in Blue Ridge, Georgia Cohutta got to experience growing up in nature and using a rifle well before his teenage years.
He took part in the Real World series as part of his goal to see as much as possible before settling down with children.
[source]
Hmm, that didn’t really offer as much information as I would have liked, but I suppose we must make due. Also of interest is that Cohutta (along with the rest of the cast) has watched the first episode. He feels that this season will be “much different” than any other “Real World” season. Is this because it’s in Australia for the first time? Or because the cast is less ethnically diverse? Or maybe because Parisa is there to whip them into shape?
