New Show Alert: Brooklyn “Laguna Beach”

Sunday, October 7th, 2007

brooklyn_bridge.jpg

A little while back, there were rumblings about a “Laguna Beach” type show set in Brooklyn. There would be all the same drama, all the same fights, and all the same cliques, but the… socio-economic conditions (read: money and ethnicity) would be decidedly different.

It has arrived. Read more!

Suspicious Announcement from “MADE”

Monday, August 27th, 2007

made_logo.jpg

A story popped up on my radar and I’m not really sure what to make of it. Apparently, the show “MADE” was shooting at North Side High School in Jackson, TN, but producers cancelled the planned followup filming on Friday. The story says that “Interim Principal Jan Watson said Thursday that a producer notified her that MTV wasn’t coming, but she did not know why.”

If you live in the area, click “read the rest of this entry” to see where else “MADE” is filming.

“The Real World” Premiere

Friday, August 10th, 2007

realworldcast.jpg

By now I’m going to assume that you’ve all seen “The Real World” premiere that aired (for the first time) on Wednesday. Well, do you love it or do you LOVE it? That was a loaded question. Here’s my take on things:

  • KellyAnne is one of those angsty, live-journal-writing 7th grade types. The reason Parisa was all up in your business, dear, is that you fell over drunk your first night there. And you thought Parisa made a bad first impression! Also, classy hot tub charade.
  • Isaac, I’m sorry to say, seems either way overwhelmed or personality-less. We barely saw one full conversation of his, but this very possibly is editing trickery. I think he’s got a lot of potential to be one of the sane roommates.
  • Oh, Parisa! Don’t you guys feel her pain? She is trapped on an island with thoughtless bimbettes. I’ll admit that she did seem to be looking for trouble during a few “conversations,” but she’s clearly at a maturity level that her roommates will reach when they’re old and–actually, probably never.
  • Shauvon surprised me. Her huge knockers and bleach blonde hair make her seem superficial, but she actually seemed rather smart, don’t you think? She’s done right by choosing team Parisa, but she’s still able to be diplomatic with the other roommates. And did I mention those knockers!
  • Trisha seems whiny. I’m on her side with the whole dishwasher argument, but her constant complaining sabotaged any merit that she would have had. The “she didn’t even speak English” thing was poor form as well. I mean, it’s fine to gripe once about how you can’t communicate with the McDonalds lady, but we don’t need to hear over and over again how some crazy foreigner didn’t rush to get you a “crunchy McFlurry.”
  • Ooooh, Dunbar. I’m trying really hard to not mention anything physical because, like, I’m not a superficial person? (Right.) Anyway! He seems sane, like Parisa. It would be difficult to have someone like KellyAnne throwing herself at you while trying to maintain a relationship back home. I truly hope he succeeds with that relationship, but we’ll see how he fares in Sydney.
  • Is Cohutta from the United States? I kid, I kid! KellyAnne was right when she said, “Is that accent real?” Too bad she spiraled from there. I think Cohutta seems genuine–you know, one of those all-around good guy types. I bet he has a farmer’s tan.

I’m all out of breath! Because I love my readership so very much, click “read the rest of this entry” to get an EXCLUSIVE tidbit that explains how Parisa and KellyAnne feel about each other now, after the show is done taping.

Does Jessica Want to Rekindle with Nick?

Saturday, July 28th, 2007

jessica_simpson.jpg
Superficial news is the best! Evidently, Jessica Simpson is begging her ex-husband and “Newlyweds” co-star to rekindle the relationship. The gossip sphere is reporting that Jessica all distraught about the (now very old) breakup, and is even resorting to drastic measures:

‘She’s been calling Nick all the time – at one point he had to change his telephone number. She now can’t contact him even if she wants to.’

Yikes! Somebody’s desperate!

New “Real World” Info: Isaac Stout

Friday, July 27th, 2007

isaac.jpg

New info was recently posted on MM Agency Blog about Isaac, the newest addition to “The Real World: Sydney” cast. Other sources have already confirmed him as this season’s “party boy,” but here’s the somewhat official word:

He has been an entertainer since birth winning freestyle battles, doing stand up comedy, and MCing events through college of which he felt allowed him to be a better Contiki tour guide during the Sydney Real World.

All this entertainment and Real World stuff to him is simply a launching pad toward his ultimate goal of being the President and then running the world….not sure if he meant running the world as President or that was just a stepping stone toward the world domination gig.

Eh, too much energy too soon? He obviously has the charisma necessary to survive in a “Real World” house; let’s just hope he doesn’t go overboard. Read the full report after the jump.

MTV Gets Protested

Friday, July 27th, 2007

protester.jpg
Generation Life, an anti-abortion protest group, is rallying in Times Square today to protest MTV’s (apparently) pro-abortion tendencies. Here’s a snipped from a flyer they plan on distributing:

Young ladies, what kind of standard is MTV setting for you? Many of their shows encourage the falsehood that women are defined by their appearance, and that their worth is grounded in an ability to seduce. But what if beauty has nothing to do with sex?

Then they zero in on their abortion claims:

The network also provides girls of any age with free information about abortion, emergency contraception, and STD’s. Their website is covered with links to Planned Parenthood, the country’s largest supplier for the killing of human persons through abortion. It seems rather strange for a music network to offer such information, unless that network is attempting to compensate for peddling sex to teenagers.

A music network? I don’t think anyone’s under the impression that MTV still plays music… In any case, if you want to check out the protest for yourself, find the details after the jump.

Steve-O Moves to USA

Thursday, July 26th, 2007

steve_o1.jpg
I mean, he already lives in the country, but he’s moving to the USA network. It’s all part of his new show “Dr. Steve-O,” where he’ll journey the nation to transform wimpy boys into manly men. Seriously, that’s the show’s premise.

DR. STEVE-O will follow the adventures of one-of-a-kind personality Steve-O, a member of a dying breed of live-life-to-the-max daredevils who is disgusted with the alarming number of “wussified” men in America. He travels around the country on a mission to “de-wussify” wimps, nerds and couch potatoes who have been nominated by their buddies, girlfriends, wives, mothers, coworkers or even have nominated themselves.

Sure, it’s all fun and games until Steve-O ends up on your door step and makes you drop and give him 20. The good news is that this show is produced by Bunim/Murray productions, the same guys behind “The Real World,” “Road Rules,” and “The Simple Life.” Maybe that will redeem it? If you want to be on the show, visit the link posted after the jump.

KellyAnne Is Nervous for “Real World” Premiere

Thursday, July 26th, 2007

kellyanne.jpg
We’re still two weeks away from the premiere of “The Real World: Sydney,” but cast members already have qualms about how the nation will react. KellyAnne Judd was recently featured on MM Agency blog, and we sure learn some interesting tidbits from the post. KellyAnne has suffered from ADD since childhood, and it seems to have affected filming in surprising ways:

During the Sydney Real World she would break out in random laughter and seemed unstable during the season which caused issues that she would usually run away from in a normal setting but being in The Real World house forced her to confront them

Is a little punctuation too much too ask for? Whatever. The article mentions that KellyAnne is being sized up as the next Brooke (”Real World: Denver”), which is great news for us as viewers, but hooorrrible news for KellyAnne as a cast member. We’ll find out in two weeks if it’s true!

Be Humiliated on “Next”!!

Wednesday, July 25th, 2007

next_bus.jpg
As MTV has given no official word on this yet, it should be considered gossip. But, it appears that a new season of “Next” is among us! Joy!! Not only that, but YOU have a shot to be one of those… pretty people on the bus. This was posted on a reality TV casting website:

MTV seeks SEXY SINGLES 18-25 for MTV’s “Next!”

“Next” is in its 5th Season and needs to stay #1!

What can YOU offer to keep us there?
Are you SUPER HOT?
Are you TOTALLY OUTGOING?
Do you have a HIDDEN TALENT?

NOTE: Must live in California to apply. 18-25 age limitation STRICTLY enforced.

Why all the hubbub about the age limit? I mean, I know that you wouldn’t want a 40-year-old cramping the show’s style, but why is it so “STRICTLY enforced”? I’m guessing they’ve run into problems with pre-teens begging to be on the show. You know how slippery that underage shizz is.

Brody Jenner and Spencer Pratt Fight

Wednesday, July 25th, 2007

brody_and_spencer.jpg
Geeze, we do them a favor by tolerating them while they’re on TV; don’t bother us with your drama when it’s not on television! Yes, Brody Jenner and Spencer Pratt from “The Hills” are, like, not friends anymore. Awesome. (They’re pictured here, sandwiching Heidi Montag). Apparently, things went awry when Pratt spoke ill of Jenner’s then girlfriend Nicole Richie in a DETAILS magazine article. I’ve read the article and it basically says that Brody Jenner used Nicole Richie for his own publicity, which many have suspected all along. The two boys are now on two opposing teams: it’s Brody and LC vs. Spencer and Heidi. Hopefully it’s a death match (and no one’s a winner).

Sigh, what do you all think?

Get Excited: Wednesday

Tuesday, July 24th, 2007

’nuff said. Here’s what’s coming at you tomorrow:

  • A “The Hills” fight that wasn’t caught on cameras? You bet!
  • What upcoming show wants you to learn karate AND become a fashion designer??
  • Hold onto the handrails: “Next” is back and better than ever.

Shanna Moakler’s Sad After “Meet the Barkers”

Tuesday, July 24th, 2007

Shanna_Moakler.jpg
Shanna Moakler, linked to MTV audiences through “Meet The Barkers,” revealed to People that she is “devastated” about her recent split from Travis Barker. It seems that this feeling, however is nothing new. As the article reports, Shanna and Travis “married in 2004, divorced in 2006 and reconciled briefly this year before calling it quits again in July.” What a whirlwind! Here’s Shanna’s take:

We separated, and for me it’s very disappointing…I consider him the love of my life. I think the demise of a marriage is like a death, and there is a mourning that goes with it. It’s devastating.”

Yikes, I hope Ms. Moakler has a speedy recovery.

Newport Harbor is the new Laguna Beach

Tuesday, July 24th, 2007

newport2.jpg
How did this sneak up on me!? Ladies and gentlement, MTV has packed their things and moved on from Laguna Beach, only to descent upon the close by Newport Harbor for their new series… “Newport Harbor.” This show appears to be literally an extension of “Laguna Beach,” just with new castmembers and a new location:

“Now we are moving up the coast to a new town with new faces and a new high school, but with the same drama of dealing with relationships, cliques, family and friends,” Tony DiSanto, MTV’s executive vice president for series development and programming, said in a statement. “The real O.C. is a beautiful backdrop to this universal story and this year we go back to the heart of the drama … the wistful last year of school.”

[source]

I could do without the pathetic references to the speaker’s “wistful last year of school,” but at least he gives us some good info: expect “Laguna Beach”-type story lines. Plain and simple. The official website words things a little differently:

For three years we have lived, loved and come of age with the teenagers of Laguna Beach. This season, we’re moving up the coast… to Newport Harbor! Join a new group of friends as they discover new loves, face new rivalries and suffer new heartbreaks. On the road to their first kiss, the newest, hottest couple at school contend with an overprotective father and a girl that’s used to getting everything she wants. Meanwhile, former best friends compete for the affection of a sophomore beauty. As they prepare to leave their childhood behind, they’ll find that high school isn’t always a day at the beach. New beauty, new town, new love and new faces: Newport Harbor - The Real Orange County.

It seems we may get a little bit of everything in this new series. More shirtless, well-tanned pictures after the jump.
