Perez Hilton is finally announcing which celebs will join him on the new show “Celebrity Rap Superstar.” The “celebs”: DaBrat (pictured) and MC Lyte.
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz….

There seems to be trouble brewing between MTV and music giant Universal Music. Though no punches have yet been thrown, Universal Music is evidently threatening to charge more money for video rights or to revoke its content from MTV entirely.
Universal Music Chairman Doug Morris has been fighting for years to get more money for music produced by his collection of hot acts, which range from U2 to Eminem. He’s been a constant thorn in the side of Apple CEO Steve Jobs, wanting more money (which hasn’t happened) to sell Universal-owned music through Apple’s iTunes.
I’ll be sure to follow this story.

Robin Thicke, the fledgling musician, was recently taped for MTV’s “Discover and Download.” The Dallas Morning News caught up with him at the ZaZa Hotel during filming, and revealed that hotel staff had to help “Robin find a brand-new pair of New Balance sneakers.” Alright, so that’s not much. But look at this report recently published on Perez Hilton:
Robin threw a royal tantrum in the lobby of the Dream Hotel in New York City when he arrived Thursday morning and his room wasn’t ready, sources reveal exclusively to PerezHilton.com.
“Hands banging on the desk, yelling at staff in the lobby. It was a scene. Not pretty,” shares one spywitness.
Thicke then went to Serafina for breakfast and kept on ranting about his room not being ready. He arrived on the red eye and didn’t book the night before so technically the room isn’t good to go til 3:00 P.M. Something someone from LA should be well aware of.
Sounds like someone needs an attitude adjustment. Read more about “Download and Discover” after the jump.

The VMAs will be hitting TV screens this September. Perez Hilton is reporting that, as a surprise at this year’s show held in Las Vegas, Britney Spears will be performing a new single. Here’s what he had to say:
Word on the street is that Britney Spears is rehearsing to make her big comeback at the MTV Video Music Awards in Las Vegas this September. The VMAs will be held this year at the Palms Hotel, which is owned by the Maloof brothers - close personal friends of the former pop star. Britney has already completed several tracks and is said to be ‘itching’ to show one off.
Personally, I’d love to see Britney Spears (try to) get back in the game–and what better place to do it than the VMAs? Britney already has a history of stirring up controversy at the Video Music Awards, so a disastrous comeback performance seems only natural.

As the credits rolled on a “My Super Sweet 16 Remix” yesterday, MTV aired the video for Sean Kingston’s song “Beautiful Girls.” What viewers quickly realized, however, was that the song appeared severely edited and censored. Since this video’s airdate on July 3, 2007, many fans have been wondering why the song has been so heavily edited. Below is the CENSORED video for “Beautiful Girls,” exclusively from WatchingMTV.com.
The song’s normal lyrics go like this:
You’re way too beautiful girl
That’s why it’ll never work
You’ll have me suicidal, suicidal
When you say it’s over
Damn all these beautiful girls
They only wanna do your dirt
They’ll have you suicidal, suicidal
When they say it’s over
In the edited version, the word “suicidal” is completely cut out. This word is the cornerstone of the song, so the edit job truly changes the song’s core. What do you think: is the edit fair, or is it a faulty act of censorship?

Though MTV audiences know him most recently as the host from “Scarred,” Jacoby Shaddix is–in fact–in a band (obvs!). Yes, he’s the frontman of Papa Roach, and he apparently had a wild weekend. Here’s one account of a recent tour stop in Evansville, Indiana:
Third [up to play] was the hardcore Papa Roach, a group best known for its 2000 hit “Last Resort” and featuring a style that’s part punk rock, part heavy metal and part post-grunge.
The four-piece band, clad in all-black, was the most active on stage, with gyrating lead singer Jacoby Shaddix seeming to teeter on the edge of becoming destructive during the song “Getting Away with Murder.”
After that song, though, Shaddix kept the crowd involved. That excitement came roaring back when Shaddix took off into the seats at Roberts Stadium, where he was mobbed by some adoring female fans. You couldn’t tell what he was singing, but it didn’t matter.
He was on the edge of becoming destructive, eh? We sure wouldn’t want him to get “Scarred.” (These MTV puns are not stopping.)
